Peh Hoo Keong
I am an international PhD student from Malaysia who joined the Edmonds Lab in March 2026, focusing on magnetic topological insulators. My research involves growing MnBi₂Te₄ thin films using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) and fabricating Hall bar devices using lithographic techniques. Using PPMS and MPMS measurements, I study how gate voltage influences the quantum anomalous Hall effect and magnetic properties, with the goal of optimising electrically controlled device performance. Apart from that, I am also interested in reading ebooks, listening to podcasts, and playing PC games.

James Blyth
I am interested in harnessing the atomic scale of materials for new technologies. I started my Ph.D. with the Edmonds group in February 2022, studying newly discovered Kagome metals with non-trivial topological states. My aim is to synthesize and study the electronic and topological properties of epitaxially grown Kagome metals (such as FeSn and Mn3Sn) using STM/STS and ARPES. Outside of my Ph.D., I enjoy strategy tabletop games, reading, and painting.

Enayet Hossain
I joined Mark Edmonds' lab in September 2023 as a PhD student. Originally from Bangladesh, I completed my B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics at the University of Dhaka before moving to Monash University. My PhD research focuses on studying the electronic and magnetic properties of magnetic topological insulator heterostructures via low-temperature transport. Outside the lab, I love traveling and enjoying nature.

Thi Vu (Emily)
I joined the Edmonds group in 2021, focusing on 2D materials and moiré superlattices in van der Waals heterostructures. My research explores how novel physics—like the unconventional quantum Hall effect, ferroelectricity, and topological properties—emerges by tuning stacking configurations. Outside the lab, I enjoy tennis, camping, hiking, and skiing.

Mohammad Tofajjol Hossen Bhuiyan
I am interested in Condensed Matter Physics, particularly lossless transport systems and superconductors. I began my PhD at Monash University under Dr. Mark Edmonds in August 2022. My project focuses on realising topological phase transitions in magnetic topological insulators. I grow 2D magnetic topological insulators and their heterostructures via MBE, and use various ARPES systems to characterise their electronic band structures.

Oliver Clark
I joined the Edmonds group as a postdoc in June 2023, focusing on designing and fabricating 2D material heterostructures in few- and many-layer regimes. Previously, I completed my PhD at the University of St Andrews, UK, and spent around 3 years as a beamline scientist at BESSY-II, Germany. Throughout my career, I have focused on discovering and characterizing topologically non-trivial phases in bulk crystal electronic structures, from PdTe2 to elemental antimony.
